Worker Placement

Worker Placement Games:
• The Mechanism: Players take turns placing a limited pool of physical tokens (often shaped like little wooden people called “meeples”) onto specific action spaces on a central board.
• Gameplay: When you place a worker on a spot, you immediately claim its benefit (like gathering wood, gaining money, or drawing a card). The defining rule is blocking: once an action space is occupied, no other player can use it for the rest of the round. The gameplay is a tight puzzle of prioritization, where you must constantly guess which spots your opponents want and grab them first.
• Example Board Games: The Pillars of the Earth, Stone Age, Viticulture, Lords of Waterdeep, Agricola
