Area Control Games:
• The Mechanism: Players compete to have the numerical majority of pieces (troops, influence, or buildings) in specific geographic zones on a map.
• Gameplay: You spend your turn deploying pieces or moving them into adjacent territories to outnumber your opponents. Points are usually awarded either at the end of each round or at the end of the game based on who rules each region. It creates a highly interactive environment where players must constantly negotiate, form temporary alliances, or directly attack leaders to stop them from running away with the game.
• Example Board Games: Risk, Small World, Blood Rage, El Grande, Inis
